Is The Album Format Dead?

Hello Fiends,

Is the album format dead?

We all know that the music business is changing and that means the way musicians record and release music is changing as well. We have been hard at work on new Creature Feature material and have been throwing a few ideas around about how to finally release it the masses. In the past, bands would take a few years to record an album and release in stores, leaving a lot of dead time between new material, but now bands have the opportunity of recording music and releasing it instantly. Some people say the long format of the album is dead and releasing songs in little bursts as they are recorded is the new order of things. I could go on for hours about this, but what I really want to know is what you guys think.

Would you rather have full length albums every year or so, or would you rather get consistent 5 to 6 song EPs every four to six months as the music is recorded?

I am very interested in hearing your opinion, so please post it here as a reply to this blog and you could change the way we release our future album.

Hope all is well,
~Curtis Rx

The First Villains & Vaudevillians T-shirt: A Steak To The Heart!

Hello fiends,

It’s been a long time coming, but I’m pleased to announce that the first in a line of Villains And Vaudevillians t-shirts has been released and it’s called “A Steak To The Heart”. It depicts a brave, but clueless vampire hunter who, after an unfortunate misunderstanding, tries to vanquish his bloodsucking foe with a t-bone steak instead of the time-honored wooden stake.

ASteakToTheHeartBanner
A Steak To The Heart Front
A Steak To The Heart Back

The shirt is double sided and limited to only 666 pieces. It comes hand numbered with a collectible hang tag and wrapped in a butchers Styrofoam tray like any proper t-bone steak should. They are $19.99 (plus shipping & handling) and come in mens sizes: Small, Medium, Large, And X-large. All shirts will ship May 15th. Artwork by Thomas Boatwright.

I am down to less than forty shirts before they are gone for good, here’s what I have left:

Small – SOLD OUT
Medium – SOLD OUT
Large – SOLD OUT
X-Large – SOLD OUT

As a special thank you for everybody who orders this shirt and since all proceeds from the shirt will go toward the completion of my upcoming ‘Rufus Rex’ debut solo album, I will print your name in the “Thank You’ section of the album booklet. I have included a message box in the Paypal transaction link that will ask you what name you would like printed in the album.

Hope all is well,
~Curtis Rx

Grave Robber At Large!

Grave Robber At Large

There is something strange down by the cemetery
Emptying the graves left and right
Ghastly schemes and ghoulish undertakings
Underneath the pale moonlight

Curse the day they invented the crematory
What a foolish waste of potential sales
It’s a damn shame to discard inventory
Think outside the box if all else fails

Death is my business and business is good!

There’s a grave robber at large
Ripping bodies from hallowed ground
Desecrate those who rest in peace
There’s profit to be made from the recent deceased

Skeletal remains are safe in the ossuary
They’re quite stale and not worth a dime
Don’t think me a fiend, this is strictly monetary
Fortune calls and I’ll answer this time.

In this occupation timing is instrumental
A matter of hours can plummet the price
The fact it’s a crime is simply incidental
Freshness is key, nothing else will suffice

Death is my business and business is good!

There’s a grave robber at large
Ripping bodies from hallowed ground
Desecrate those who rest in peace
There’s profit to be made from the recent deceased

Midnight meetings inside the graveyard
Crunching numbers, breaking the earth
I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty
Even if things seem a bit perverse

Though these deeds weigh heavy on my soul
I will no doubt sleep perfectly sound
While you struggle to keep your conscience
A garden of riches rots in the ground

Death is my business and business is good!

There’s a grave robber at large
Ripping bodies from hallowed ground
Desecrate those who rest in peace
There’s profit to be made from the recent deceased

Death is my business and business is good!

I’ve Got This Sinking Feeling In My Gut

Hello Fiends,

Here is another excerpt from a little book of death poems I am writing called ‘101 Ways To Die, Accidents, Murders, And Other Techniques To Lose A Life’. This little morsel involves our favorite Victorian serial killer with a penchant for organ removal. Enjoy!

I’ve Got This Sinking Feeling In My Gut

In the hours past midnight
Taking a shortcut home
Down a dark alley
Chilled to the bone

A hard day on the job
Not the profession you’d think
A harlot, a whore
A woman of the streets

Weekend At Bernie’s 3: The Four Year Term!

Weekend At Bernie's 3: The Four Year Term!In Tennessee, one lucky councilman in the town of Tracy City finally achieved his livelong goal of becoming mayor, but there was just one hitch, he had died of a heart attack two weeks before the election. Even though the man was no longer living, that didn’t stop him from accumulating 268 votes, while his opponent received only 85. Local residents voted for the dead man in protest of the current mayor who, in strange twist of fate, was running for a second term after being appointed mayor when the previous one passed away. Until the city council appoints another new mayor, it seems that a dead man now holds office in the town of Tracy City.

Let Sleeping Corpses Lie!

Let Sleeping Corpses Lie!In New York, police ticketed and eventually towed an illegally parked minivan sitting suspiciously outside a local funeral home, unaware that there was a body inside. The owner of the funeral home noticed that the van was missing the following afternoon and spent the day feverishly trying to track it down. Eventually he found the missing van at the local impound yard and had to explain to police that there was a body inside awaiting its flight home for a funeral. The mortuary placard on the van must have tipped over during the night and police believed the vehicle to be just another illegally park offender. After getting the van back, the funeral owner rushed the body to the airport just in time for its flight home. The impound yard waived the towing and storage fees, but the cost of the parking ticket still stands.

Elvis Has Left The Building, And He’s Headed To The Airport!

Elvis Has Left The Building, And He's Headed To The Airport! In London, a hacker wanted to prove to the world just how easy it is to fool a self-service passport scanner at the airport and was able to get clearance for a flight by using a fake passport issued to the King himself. Officials are claiming that the new passports being issued with biometric chips implanted in them that store facial, eye, and fingerprint maps of the user, are impossible to counterfeit, but one hacker wanted to prove otherwise. He created a false passport under the name of Elvis Presley and even made his own biometric chip with store bought supplies, all for less than a hundred dollars. The hacker also rigged it so a picture of Elvis would show up on the monitor display, proving the fact that the king of rock ‘n’ roll isn’t dead after all, he’s just doing some traveling.

In This Instance, It’s Okay To Cry Over Spilled Milk!

In This Instance, It's Ok To Cry Over Spilled Milk!In Kentucky, A 31-year-old woman faces charges of third degree assault after attacking a female deputy with her breast milk. The woman, who was originally arrested on public intoxication charges, was transferred to a local detention center where she was told to change into her jail uniform. Unable to change on her own due to the alcohol in her system, a female deputy had to help the prisoner out of her clothing. While the deputy was distracted, the suspect took the opportunity to squeeze her breast and squirt a thick stream of breast milk into the deputy’s eyes. Since breast milk is considered bio-hazard, the deputy was quickly rushed away for decontamination. The suspect attempted a second attack with her projectile breast milk, but was unsuccessful.

Put A Fork In Him, He’s Done!

Put A Fork In Him, He's Done!In California, A man was attacked with a meat thermometer and stabbed in the neck while watching a movie at his local theater. During the screening, the man told a woman sitting near him to shut off her cell phone because she was talking loudly and disturbing the other moviegoers. The unidentified woman grew furious after the verbal exchange and quickly exited the movie theater with two men in tow. After a few minutes passed, one of the men returned and stabbed the victim in the neck with a meat thermometer. The man then attacked two other patrons who tried to intervene before fleeing the scene. The victim has been hospitalized and the suspects are still on the loose.

If A Tree Falls In The Forest, Can You Still Hear The Screams?

Hello Fiends,

Here is another excerpt from a little book of death poems I am writing called ‘101 Ways To Die, Accidents, Murders, And Other Techniques To Lose A Life’. I wrote this after I overheard one of my neighbors complaining about a tree that was hanging over into his yard and dropping leaves on his lawn. Enjoy!

If A Tree Falls In A Forest, Can You Still Hear The Screams?

The seasons are a changing
Shedding dead autumn leaves
They tumble through the air
On a mission to flee

You rake and you rake
But they just reappear
That damn neighbor’s tree
You tell him each year
