News For December: (Secret Music Projects, Ebay Auctions, Film Scoring, & Chapbooks)

Hello boils and ghouls,

Is it December already?

It has been awhile since I posted any kind of update on the strange experiments I’ve been toiling away with in the laboratory and you’ve probably been silently thinking to yourself, “Curtis must sit home all day counting his gold bars, sharing idle gossip with celebs over solemnly seasoned spinach salads, polishing his perfectly pretentious Bentley with its windows darker than the inky hours past midnight, or modeling sleek clothing for jet-setting designers and their St. Tropez state of minds.” Sure, but that all gets boring after awhile and I’ve got a lot work to do. So, I wanted to drop a line and let you guys know what’s going on in the months ahead as winter tightens it’s icy grip around our throats. 2009 was a busy year of planning, writing, organizing, and blood letting with the ultimate goal of having everything go into effect in January, just as another year returns to the dust.

NEW MUSIC?

I’ve been writing so much music since getting back home from tour, that I’ve decided to go into the studio in January to record a secret project. As soon as recording is underway, I’ll be posting regular updates, sneak peaks, and even a few videos.

That announcement brings me directly to my next piece of business:

EBAY?

As I sit here staring a too many vintage shirts to occupy my skeleton filled closet, random movie memorabilia that averts it’s eyes every time I enter the room, Halloween knick-knacks longing for the embrace of a loving shelf, vintage furniture yearning to travel the globe, and random hand constructed oddities that have been quietly planning their escape, it has to come to my attention that I have accumulated too much stuff and it’s time to do some serious spring winter cleaning. I’ve decided to take the advice of a few good friends, thin out my collection that has piled up over the years, and offer it up for auction on Ebay with all the proceeds going toward the production cost of the album I’ll be recording in January. Over the next month I’ll be adding vintage shirts, movie memorabilia, Halloween collectibles, and vintage furniture. Just click the banner below to be magically whisked away to my fancy new Ebay page.

After checking out my auctions, you might be asking yourself, “What’s with all the weird shirts?” Well, that’s because I used to collect and sell vintage clothing. Trust me, I tried to use them to polish my Bentley, but I have since discovered the ShamWow.

SCORING?

During those magical Autumn months, drenched in the crooked smiles of jack-o-lanterns and occasional gusts of passing poltergeists, I was busy working on a few scoring projects that leaped out into my path. Luckily I was able to avoid collision and once the transfusions are complete and the shock dissipates, they will be announced. In days to come, I’ll begin to post snippets of the music here on my site for all to hear, so please check back regularly.

FILM?

Remember that fleeting project I spoke about a few months ago entitled “Treasures Washed Ashore”? Well, I’ve managed to work out all the bugs and in late January I go into production of said film, which will be first of 12 five-minute short films for an online horror anthology I’m creating. (fingers crossed).

CHAPBOOKS?

Definition: chap·book (chăp’bʊk’)
n.
A) a generic term to cover a particular genre of pocket-sized booklet, popular from the sixteenth through to the later part of the nineteenth century.
B) a small book or pamphlet containing poems, ballads, or stories.

n.

What’s with the vocabulary lesson?

If all goes well, starting in 2010 I plan to start making a quarterly Villains And Vaudevillians Chapbook that will have all new writing, poems, stories, etc, that won’t be available anywhere else. I’m still in the planning phase, but they will be handmade, hand numbered, and very limited. I will still post a gaggle of new writing on my site, but these will be special secret society style pamphlets for those who would like to have something tangible to hold and read by the firelight while the raven mocks your sanity from its perch upon the pallid bust of Pallas just above your chamber door.

With all that said and done, I would like to personally thank everybody here for all your support and interest in my twisted and unfortunate thoughts. If you promise to keep enjoying my work, then I promise to keep creating it. You guys are the best and if we work together, someday the world will be OURS!

Muhahahahahahaha!!!!!!

Now, I must make haste, for the full moon is upon us and I must ready the cage and secure the locks. The night will be long, violent, and strangely satisfying—and I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.

Your friend,
~Curtis Rx

It’s good to see an update from you again!
I’m all sorts of excited for 2010 now. Especially for all the new music and chapbooks. I’ll be waiting patiently for more updates on both of those.

Also, I think I can confidently promise I’ll continue to enjoy whatever you come up with, sir :)

    Stay Spooky!

The last time I bought something special and limited edition off this particular area of the internet…someone lifted it.
Whatever I get ahold of this time won’t make it back out of my house.
    I learned my lesson O_O

How can we not continue to enjoy your delightfully demented work?

I am very much looking forward to new music.
And when you’ve organised a new tour, don’t forget poor Maryland. Or Delaware. :D

Would you consider doing a concert in small-town Oregon? or close to a small-part…
