Two More Songs I Composed For ‘Playing Dead’!

Hey fiends,

Since this week was the premier of the first two episode of a new web series called ‘Playing Dead’ that I scored, I’ve decided to post up two more short snippets of music.

The first is the short opening credits song called ‘The Art Of Playing Dead’. This is only a small piece of a much longer song that will someday be unearthed.

The second song is a piece I wrote for episode II and is entitled ‘Even Death Knows You’re Lying”.

Thanks so much for checking out the web series and please tell all your friends.

Stay weird,
~Curtis Rx

Ps. I’m also posting these up on my Myspace in case anybody wants to add them on their page.

Tired Of Your Boring, Generic Pillows?

Hey fiends,

Check out these two strange and fantastic pillows. The first was created by an artist named Keetra Dean Dixon and was created to look like a puddle of blood after a headshot.

The second pillow was created by a company called Kropserkel to look like a severed horse head.

Please buy me one of each, thank you!

What Is Your New Year’s Resolution?

Hey fiends,

The time has come to state the things we want to achieve in the coming year, so here it goes. My new year’s resolution is to finish all the strange little projects I have lying around. It’s going to be a massive amount of work, but here is what I will get done this year.

  1. Learn how to move objects with my mind.
  2. Release the musical side project I’m recording in January.
  3. Find the abominable snowman.
  4. Finish writing the next Creature Feature album.
  5. Find out why my reanimation serum fails after only 24 hours.
  6. Finish my book of poems entitled “101 Ways To Die”.
  7. Drink more coffee.
  8. Finish the last 100 pages of a fiction novella I’ve been working on.
  9. Challenge the alligator I wrestled last year to a rematch.
  10. Unearth the hidden cache of gold doubloons marked on the tattered map I discovered in an old sailing book.

If you have a minute to spare, please leave a comment on this post and let me know what your new year’s resolutions are.

Hope all is well,
~Curtis Rx

Ps. If I can find the time, I’d also like to train falcons to deliver coded messages for me so I can save some money on my phone bill and because message by falcon is so much cooler than a text.

Tonight I Shall Slumber In The Belly Of The Beast!

Hello fiends, Take a look at how amazing this sleeping bag is! This twisted creation crawled out of the brilliantly fractured brain of an Amsterdam based designer named Eiko Ishizawa and is definitely a delectably disturbing sight to see. I promise to grant perpetual youth to anybody who drops one of these off at my [...]

Welcome To The Handlebar Mustache Club!

Hello fiends,

Check these guys out! Kinda makes me want to grow a mustache and see how the other half lives.

Mark my words, someday I will start a club like this for people of the sideburned variety. We will assembly monthly over cocktails to speak of our many adventures, compare notes on the whereabouts of Bigfoot, unearth hidden treasures from around the world, and decode ancient riddles that have stumped mankind for ages. From time to time, we will also touch upon subjects such as; the art of dueling, celestial navigation, prestidigitation, spectral analysis, occult practices predating the 20th century, and electromagnetism with special attention to the work of Nikola Tesla in the areas of time travel and matter manipulation.

Hope all is well,

Now That’s What I Call A Coffee Maker!

Hello fiends,

Listen up Starbucks, this is what a coffee machine should look like. This Saeco Etienne Louis espresso machine is a gene-spliced abomination that looks like a cross between a futuristic sea mine and a classic sci-fi film. Now, if they were to set it up so it could detonate when somebody takes a cup without permission, well then it would be perfect. Who knows how much this thing costs, but just like a mine, it just might cost you an arm and a leg.

Brand New Song Posted: “Once More, With Gusto”!

Hello boils and ghouls,

As mentioned in one of my latest blog entries, I’ve been keeping extremely busy with a ton of strange projects and constantly jumping back and forth between all different kinds of genres. So, as a little thank you for all your support, I wanted to post a sneak peak here of some of the instrumental music I’ve been composing for film and various web series. It’s entitled “Once More, With Gusto” and the project it was written for will be announced very soon, so please keep on the lookout for that. I’m sure this song will go through a few more metamorphoses, but consider this the first edition.

Without further adieu, here is “Once More, With Gusto”.

If you’ve got the time, please leave a comment on this post. I’d love to know what you think? I’ll also be posting this song over on my Myspace page in case anybody needs a new theme song for their page.

Hope all is well,
~Curtis Rx

PS. If you liked what you’ve heard, please help spread the word. This song has been ripped out from the protective embrace of the womb and thrust out into the alien landscape of this new and dangerous world. It is afraid and all alone. It needs human contact and somebody to sit down and hear its tale.

First Look: Exclusive Photo From The Set Of Ghostbusters 3!

Hello fiends,

Late last night I received an urgent e-mail from a contact of mine who is is part of a film crew working a top secret project currently lensing in Los Angeles. He wouldn’t say what the name of the film was, but he did extend an invitation for me to come check out the set today. Being a huge fan of all things film, I quickly jumped at the chance. So this morning, with coffee in hand, I arrive on location and you could imagine my surprise when I found out the film was none other than—Ghostbusters 3. Unfortunately I could only spend a few hours gawking at the elaborate sets and famous characters we’ve all grown to love, but before I left, I was able to snap an exclusive pic of the new ghost busting team ready to do battle with the sinister forces that oppose them.

Here’s what you’ve all been waiting for, the first exclusive pic from the set of Ghostbusters 3:

Grandma Venkman is definitely my favorite of the new characters!

News For December: (Secret Music Projects, Ebay Auctions, Film Scoring, & Chapbooks)

Hello boils and ghouls,

Is it December already?

It has been awhile since I posted any kind of update on the strange experiments I’ve been toiling away with in the laboratory and you’ve probably been silently thinking to yourself, “Curtis must sit home all day counting his gold bars, sharing idle gossip with celebs over solemnly seasoned spinach salads, polishing his perfectly pretentious Bentley with its windows darker than the inky hours past midnight, or modeling sleek clothing for jet-setting designers and their St. Tropez state of minds.” Sure, but that all gets boring after awhile and I’ve got a lot work to do. So, I wanted to drop a line and let you guys know what’s going on in the months ahead as winter tightens it’s icy grip around our throats. 2009 was a busy year of planning, writing, organizing, and blood letting with the ultimate goal of having everything go into effect in January, just as another year returns to the dust.

NEW MUSIC?

I’ve been writing so much music since getting back home from tour, that I’ve decided to go into the studio in January to record a secret project. As soon as recording is underway, I’ll be posting regular updates, sneak peaks, and even a few videos.

That announcement brings me directly to my next piece of business:

EBAY?

As I sit here staring a too many vintage shirts to occupy my skeleton filled closet, random movie memorabilia that averts it’s eyes every time I enter the room, Halloween knick-knacks longing for the embrace of a loving shelf, vintage furniture yearning to travel the globe, and random hand constructed oddities that have been quietly planning their escape, it has to come to my attention that I have accumulated too much stuff and it’s time to do some serious spring winter cleaning. I’ve decided to take the advice of a few good friends, thin out my collection that has piled up over the years, and offer it up for auction on Ebay with all the proceeds going toward the production cost of the album I’ll be recording in January. Over the next month I’ll be adding vintage shirts, movie memorabilia, Halloween collectibles, and vintage furniture. Just click the banner below to be magically whisked away to my fancy new Ebay page.

EbayLogo

After checking out my auctions, you might be asking yourself, “What’s with all the weird shirts?” Well, that’s because I used to collect and sell vintage clothing. Trust me, I tried to use them to polish my Bentley, but I have since discovered the ShamWow.

SCORING?

During those magical Autumn months, drenched in the crooked smiles of jack-o-lanterns and occasional gusts of passing poltergeists, I was busy working on a few scoring projects that leaped out into my path. Luckily I was able to avoid collision and once the transfusions are complete and the shock dissipates, they will be announced. In days to come, I’ll begin to post snippets of the music here on my site for all to hear, so please check back regularly.

FILM?

Remember that fleeting project I spoke about a few months ago entitled “Treasures Washed Ashore”? Well, I’ve managed to work out all the bugs and in late January I go into production of said film, which will be first of 12 five-minute short films for an online horror anthology I’m creating. (fingers crossed).

CHAPBOOKS?

Definition: chap·book (chăp’bʊk’)
n.
A) a generic term to cover a particular genre of pocket-sized booklet, popular from the sixteenth through to the later part of the nineteenth century.
B) a small book or pamphlet containing poems, ballads, or stories.

n.

What’s with the vocabulary lesson?

If all goes well, starting in 2010 I plan to start making a quarterly Villains And Vaudevillians Chapbook that will have all new writing, poems, stories, etc, that won’t be available anywhere else. I’m still in the planning phase, but they will be handmade, hand numbered, and very limited. I will still post a gaggle of new writing on my site, but these will be special secret society style pamphlets for those who would like to have something tangible to hold and read by the firelight while the raven mocks your sanity from its perch upon the pallid bust of Pallas just above your chamber door.

With all that said and done, I would like to personally thank everybody here for all your support and interest in my twisted and unfortunate thoughts. If you promise to keep enjoying my work, then I promise to keep creating it. You guys are the best and if we work together, someday the world will be OURS!

Muhahahahahahaha!!!!!!

Now, I must make haste, for the full moon is upon us and I must ready the cage and secure the locks. The night will be long, violent, and strangely satisfying—and I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.

Your friend,
~Curtis Rx
